Mall of America Expansion

- Daniel Cleland, RLA, ASLA served as Project Director in facilitating a group of financial planners, architects, landscape architects, planners, civil engineers, transportation engineers and utility specialists in the development of two alternative concepts for the potential doubling in size of the "largest enclosed shopping mall" in the continental U.S.A.
- Work included:
- analysis of existing and proposed air traffic patterns
- highway transportation ingress and egress routing
- utility infrastucture analysis and planning
- architectural programming and model development
- interior theming and spacial planning
- square footage calcualtions and cost estimating.
- Final concepts included two separate adjacent sites that were analyzed to develop planning and theming concepts for alternative expansion options, each totaling in excess of an additional five million square feet of commerical and residential development.
